About Dr. Swaminathan Sambandam
Dr. Swaminathan Sambandam is a Senior Consultant and Lead in Multi-Organ Transplantation with over 15 years of expertise in liver, kidney, pancreas, and small intestine transplants. He has trained extensively across the USA, UK, and Australia, completing an ASTS Abdominal Transplant Fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospital, USA. He has successfully performed more than 750 liver transplants and over 1000 kidney transplants, including pioneering robotic kidney transplantation in Tamil Nadu.
His team is credited with building the largest paediatric liver transplant program in South Tamil Nadu, and he performed one of the youngest paediatric living donor liver transplants in the region. In addition to transplantation, he has carried out 2000+ advanced hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries, with strong expertise in laparoscopic and robotic procedures.
