About Dr. Ajitabh Srivastava

Dr. Ajitabh Srivastava is one of India’s leading hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgeons, with nearly three decades of experience in HPB surgery and transplantation. He currently serves as Director – HPB Surgery & Liver Transplant at Max Healthcare, where he leads high-volume transplant programs across Delhi-NCR. After completing his MBBS and MS from Goa University, he pursued advanced surgical training including DNB (General Surgery), a fellowship in HPB and liver transplant surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and further specialized training in the USA under the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

He has been directly involved in over 1,000 liver transplant procedures, including both living donor and deceased donor cases, along with advanced HPB resections, pancreatic surgeries, and biliary reconstructions. His expertise extends to minimally invasive and robotic donor hepatectomy, a highly specialized skill that improves donor safety and recovery.

Over his career, he has played a pivotal role in establishing transplant units at some of India’s leading hospitals including Apollo (Delhi & Chennai), MIOT (Chennai), and Aakash (Dwarka). His work has helped shape India’s liver transplant landscape by introducing advanced surgical protocols and building strong multidisciplinary teams.

An active academician, Dr. Srivastava has contributed to medical literature through peer-reviewed research papers, international presentations, and case studies, particularly focusing on pediatric transplants, complex donor surgeries, and innovations in post-transplant management.
