About Dr. Prakash P Kotwal

Dr. Prakash P Kotwal is one of India’s most respected orthopaedic surgeons, with over four decades of experience in hand surgery, upper extremity care, traumatology, and joint replacement. He served at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, for nearly 40 years, where he held key leadership roles, eventually becoming Senior Professor and Head of Orthopaedics. With advanced training in hand surgery and traumatology from the USA and Germany, he has successfully managed complex upper limb fractures, dislocations, and congenital deformities.

Dr. Kotwal has performed numerous joint replacement surgeries involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and small joints of the hand, alongside reconstructive surgeries for rheumatoid conditions, tendon injuries, and nerve repair. As the President of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand, he continues to contribute to the advancement of orthopaedic surgery and mentor the next generation of surgeons.
