About Dr. Krishna Subramony Iyer
Dr. Krishna Subramony Iyer is one of India’s most respected paediatric cardiac surgeons and a pioneer in establishing specialized cardiac programs for children. He initiated North India’s first dedicated paediatric cardiac care program in 1995 at Escorts Heart Institute, which has become a benchmark for paediatric heart surgery in India and South-East Asia. Over his career, he has performed more than 10,000 surgeries on newborns, infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease, covering a wide range of complex corrective procedures.
His innovations include the first successful rapid two-stage arterial switch operation and double-switch procedure in India, along with extensive work on neonatal and infant heart surgery. Dr. Iyer is deeply committed to making cardiac care accessible, working on cost-effective treatment models and supporting several charitable initiatives for underprivileged children.
