About Dr. Ashwin Rammohan
Dr. Ashwin Rammohan is a highly accomplished Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and Liver Transplant Surgeon with more than two decades of surgical expertise. After graduating with his MBBS from Madras Medical College in 2002, he pursued advanced surgical training in Gastroenterology and HPB Surgery at Stanley Medical College. His outstanding performance earned him the National Gold Medal in General Surgery from the National Board of Examinations. To further hone his skills, he undertook higher surgical training in the United Kingdom, where he specialized in advanced gastrointestinal surgery at Cambridge University-associated hospitals. He successfully obtained the prestigious FRCS from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr. Rammohan also expanded his academic credentials with a University Diploma in Advanced Upper GI Minimal Access Surgery from L’Université de Strasbourg, France. This specialized training strengthened his expertise in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Presently, he serves as a Consultant HPB & Liver Transplant Surgeon and as the Director of Academics & Research at a leading liver institute in Chennai. In this dual role, he is recognized both for his clinical excellence in liver surgery and transplantation as well as for his contributions to medical education and academic leadership. Internationally respected for his research and publications, Dr. Rammohan has contributed to more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, authored 15 book chapters, and holds patents in liver transplantation technology. He is also an invited reviewer, associate editor, and member of multiple global societies dedicated to liver disease and transplantation.
