About Dr. V. Balaraman
Dr. V. Balaraman is a highly accomplished nephrologist with over two decades of clinical, academic, and administrative experience in nephrology and kidney transplantation. He has pioneered pediatric kidney transplantation and initiated advanced renal procedures such as Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) in neonates and hemodiafiltration at the Institute of Child Health, Chennai.
During his tenure at Kilpauk Medical College (KMC), he successfully performed the first ABO-incompatible kidney transplant in a government hospital in Tamil Nadu, placing KMC on the transplant map of Chennai. His leadership extends beyond clinical care—having served as Medical Superintendent at KMC, he also contributed significantly to healthcare administration.
In the private sector, Dr. Balaraman has spearheaded transplant programs at Kumaran Hospitals, Aysha Hospitals, Chettinad Super Speciality Hospitals, and Rainbow Hospitals, completing hundreds of kidney transplants, including high-risk and cadaveric cases.
