About Dr. Subrat Kumar Acharya

Dr. Subrat Kumar Acharya is a nationally and internationally recognized gastroenterologist and liver transplant physician with more than four decades of service in gastroenterology and hepatology. He served at AIIMS, New Delhi, for the majority of his career, where he retired as Professor and Head of the Department of Gastroenterology.

Currently, he leads the Gastroenterology & Hepatobiliary Sciences division at Fortis Escorts and is also the Dean (Research) of the Fortis group of hospitals. His contributions to hepatology and liver disease management have earned him the Padma Shri and several other prestigious awards in India and abroad. In addition to his clinical practice, he has trained generations of doctors, published extensively, and guided advancements in liver disease management, liver transplantation, and endoscopic interventions.
