About Dr. P. Kar

Dr. P. Kar is a senior gastroenterologist with more than four decades of expertise in digestive health, hepatology, and advanced endoscopic procedures. He is currently associated with Max Healthcare as Senior Director of Gastroenterology, where he continues to provide specialized care for complex gastrointestinal and liver disorders. His career foundation was built at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, Assam, where he earned both his MBBS and MD in Medicine. He later pursued DM in Gastroenterology from the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi, followed by a PhD in Biosciences from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, reflecting a strong academic and research orientation. Dr. Kar has served in some of India’s most reputed medical institutions, including Maulana Azad Medical College, where he worked as Director Professor of Medicine (Gastroenterology), and earlier as a Professor and lecturer at AIIMS, New Delhi.

His areas of expertise cover hepatobiliary medicine, therapeutic endoscopy, and advanced diagnostic procedures such as ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound. Over the years, he has trained numerous young doctors and contributed extensively to academic medicine. Widely published in national and international journals, Dr. Kar’s research has been cited by scholars across the globe. His work is documented in journals such as the Indian Journal of Gastroenterology, the Indian Journal of Medical Research, and the National Medical Journal of India.
