About Dr. Milind Padmakar Hote

Dr. Milind Padmakar Hote is Director of Adult Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, specializing in advanced cardiac procedures including heart and lung transplantation. Previously a Professor at AIIMS, he contributed significantly to the development of transplant programs, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, and heart failure management in India. He underwent advanced training in robotic cardiac surgery at the Heart Surgery Centre in Innsbruck, Austria, and is among the few in India with extensive experience in robotic ASD closure.

His achievements include performing the first successful lung transplant in a public sector hospital, conducting numerous heart donor harvests, and contributing to the establishment of transplant programs at AIIMS and RML Hospital. Beyond surgery, he has played a leadership role in policy-making as part of NOTTO, helping to formulate guidelines for organ donation, allocation, and patient listing.
