Dr. Madhuri Behari is a distinguished Consultant Neurologist at Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, with an illustrious career spanning over 34 years. A graduate of Lady Hardinge Medical College and a DM (Neurology) from AIIMS, New Delhi, she is globally recognized for her pioneering work in movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease. At AIIMS, she was instrumental in establishing a state-of-the-art Movement Disorders and Botulinum Toxin Therapy Unit, as well as developing the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) program — transforming the standard of care for neurological patients in India. Her groundbreaking work has significantly advanced the understanding, diagnosis, and management of Parkinson’s disease and dystonia.
Beyond her clinical accomplishments, Dr. Behari has made monumental contributions to neurological research and education. With over 150 published papers, multiple book chapters, and editorial roles in leading journals, she continues to shape neurology both nationally and internationally. Her leadership roles as President of the Indian Academy of Neurology and Founding President of the Movement Disorders Society of India underscore her commitment to advancing neuroscience in India.
