About Dr. Joy Varghese

Dr. Joy Varghese is one of India’s senior-most Transplant Hepatologists, with expertise in complex liver diseases and liver transplantation. He has been instrumental in establishing and expanding liver transplant programs in both government and private institutions across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Dr. Varghese has performed and supervised over 1500 successful liver transplants, including living donor and cadaveric procedures.

A recognized academician, he has delivered 1000+ lectures at national and international conferences on hepatology and liver transplantation. He is a pioneer in India for introducing therapeutic plasma exchange in advanced liver disease and successfully conducting HBV-related liver transplants using hyperimmune plasma.
